Here it goes.
A friend of mine, I will just call her Jane Doe told me that she recently went to her gynecologist for a check up a few months after having a baby.
The visit started the usual way. First they made small talk, ok he made small talk, “how are you doing? Any problems? How is the baby? Nice weather…scoot down a bit more” and then the visit. Jane didn’t really go into the details of the actual visit (luckily).
But, nothing unusual was reported. Then Jane casually told the doctor that she had low no sex drive. To which he replied, “Of course not, you have old lady vagina”
“For crying out loud that’s not a nice thing to say!!!!”, I told her when she uttered the words OLD LADY’ S VAGINA.
But then I thought, is this normal? Does it happen to everyone? Goodness gracious I am about to have my sixth child how old is my vagina??????? Does it get older the more children you have????
Knowing myself I will probably obsess over this until I see my own OB/GYN and then ask him if I am at risk.
Anyway, Jane was given a progesterone cream to rejuvenate her vagina…..It worked.
But I was surprised that Jane’s doctor used the words old lady vagina instead of vaginal atrophy, the medical term (I looked it up on the web)
Goes to show no amount of education teaches sensitivity and I really don;t want to know what this doctor talks about behind closed doors….
