The pulling and tugging on the earrings and necklaces is excruciating, so I willingly gave them up before losing an earlobe to my daughters’ capable hands. I’m left with a childproof short hair cut and a tired look.

Accessories could make a difference when it comes to the individual touch that completes a look.

But the five loves of my life don’t mesh well with accessories. If there is such a thing as ‘a life through accessories’, I have to live it vicariously through people like my sister, featured above, who’s wearing a lovely set of earrings and necklace which complement her facial features and black top.

I can even look at my mom and see a far more active accessories life than mine. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Nope. Mamma knows how to accessorize even for an afternoon ‘aperitivo’.

I didn’t just randomly became obsessed with accessories. My new writing gig for the Huffington Post has me focused on style and fashion, so I’m reading more magazines, both print and on line, than ever before, devouring everything from accessories to unusual underpants.

I found a few links that show some cool accessories for this fall and winter,. I bet I could walk around my house with the high heel shoes at the bottom right for five seconds.

At the Insider, the Chanel earrings look particularly lovely.
