A six year old girl on my daughter’s swim team has a cell phone, which she proudly showcases to everyone who is willing to look at it. She’ll even allow you to play with her games, if you look admiringly at her toy. This has created a negative buzz among other parents, who think that a six year old shouldn’t have a cell phone.
When another parent asked me when I thought my daughters would have a cell phone, I realized that this thought hadn’t crossed my mind. This parent …

I’ve had to move Amazing Baby by Desmond Morris to higher shelves in my home because apparently I am not the only one who loves it: my kids cannot stop looking at the pictures and cooing, how cute, how cute, was I this cute mommy when I was little?
And I echo my children’ s feelings. The first thing that comes to mind when I pick up Amazing Baby, which I have done several times, is how cute babies are. Seriously, these pictures are amazing! Lovely photographs of adorable babies coupled …

This was out a few days ago and I thought I would post it becasue my ‘paesano’ Silvio Berlusconi, Prime Minister of Italy, my country of origin,  has made another awful and completely out of place remark.
The Herald Tribune reports that, The Italian leader, was asked by a reporter about the prospect for U.S.-Russian relations, which have plummeted in recent months.
Berlusconi responded by saying that the relative youth of the Russian president, Dmitri Medvedev, 43, and Obama, 47, should make it easier for Moscow and Washington to work together.
Then he …

I come from a matriarchal family. Women hold the power in my neck of the woods, and any man who stands in our way gets axed. We allow them to our feast, but they must remain subordinate. This is partly due to the fact that we outnumber them, four to one, but also due to the reality that they capitulated a long time ago, when they realized that happy women made for a serene home life.
The matriarchy accepts family members and girlfriends who aren’t catty, but can take a jab …

Today I wrote my column (I write a weekly parenting column) about depression. That was easy. Real easy. First I tried to come up with something clever to say, a comment about all that’s going on. But I felt like everyone has said everything there is to say about these elections.
Then I ran through a list of controversial topics, abortion, gay marriage, the economy, wait this last one is mostly depressing, stem cell research, blah, blah, blah. I didn’t want to talk about something negative because despite my personal condition …

I was thinking that they should give extra bonus stickers to moms who vote. We do have to make efforts to get there, right? Maybe a tiny token of appreciation?
I thought that voting with my children in tow showed some unparalleled determination. OK, maybe just your expected civic duty, but when I piled them up in the van I felt I was a brave soul heading toward the polls. Nothing could stand in my way, barf, infant poop, long lines, kids complaints. I was proud and wanted a little …

The My Baby A to Z video captured my children’s attention from the moment I popped the DVD in. With six little ones at home, the youngest kids don’t usually get to pick the movie they watch either in the car (I know, I’m a bad mom and let my kids watch TV on the road) or at home. It’s a constant bickering for who is going to watch what. So when the video arrived and I explained that it was for Livia, the two year old, she was so …

Well, I wanted to stay away from talking again about the election, even though I compulsively wait for any kind of news to transpire at CNN or MSNBC instead of the Obama 0%, McCain 0%.
Surfing the net I found this :
A nudist group at the Caliente Resorts, in Pasco County, north of Tampa, has approached election officials about the idea of having a clothing optional voting site.
The supervisor of elections says he will not be considering new precincts before redistricting in 2010, even though nothing in state law would prohibit …
